GoldMine 8.5 Column Does Not Allow Nulls
This information applies to :
July 13, 2009
When saving a quote in QuoteWerks and writing back to GoldMine 8.5, the following message appears:
Database operation error:
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'CONTACT', table 'GoldMine.dbo.CONTSUPP'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.
When updating to GoldMine Version 8.5 on the SQL backend the column ...Databases\GoldMine\Tables\dbo.CONTSUPP\Columns\CONTACT gets set to (varchar(40), not null) instead of (varchar(40), null).
Note: This issue does not occur when working with a new 8.5 database. This will only occur with a GoldMine database that was upgraded to 8.5.
This GoldMine issue can be corrected by modifying the column and checking the Allow Nulls box for that column using Enterprise Manager or SQL Server Management Studio Express.
In addition, the issue has been reported as fixed in version 8.5.12 of Goldmine.
