QuickBooks - Clicking the Setup button results in freeze or excessive lag

When user clicks on the Setup button in the Export to QuickBooks area, the Setup window does not display immediately. It hangs or appears to freeze, displaying only after an excessively long wait time.


Most likely cause is an anti-virus or similar program filtering the request before allowing it to process. If working via a network, it's can be an anti-virus program running on the workstation or the server.


For testing, try disabling all anti virus or anti spyware programs, including firewalls, and try the Setup button again. If it then launches the Setup window successfully, try providing an exclusion for QuoteWerks in your protection programs to prevent them from being scanned and the issue should be resolved.
