Are you using the most current release of QuoteWerks?
Version 24.0 Build 2
Question:
How do I Re-link to an existing Native QuoteWerks Product Database in a Rehosted QuoteWerks Installation?

Solution:
Disclaimer
With the Standard and Professional Editions of our product, Native QuoteWerks Product Databases are stored as individual Microsoft Access databases. Access Databases are separate files that can easily be re-linked to. In a SQL environment they are stored as tables and you will need to manually edit table data in order to re-establish a link to an existing Product Datasource. Assistance and education on this process (outside of this document) is not included in the price of QuoteWerks. The local QuoteWerks Administrator or the IT department will need to be able to perform the tasks outlined in this document (or have resources that they can rely on to assist them in such tasks).

To complete this process you'll need two things:

1) The "SA" password for the SQL Server Instance that's hosting the QuoteWerks Backend Database. (The SQL Instance that's hosting QuoteWerks can be viewed via Help->About->System->SQL Server Name.)

2) The Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio or the SQL Enterprise Manager.
The SQL Server Management Studio Express can be obtained from Microsoft free of charge here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=C243A5AE-4BD1-4E3D-94B8-5A0F62BF7796&displaylang=en

Re-Linking the Datasource table:

1) From QuoteWerks go: Products->Setup Product Sources

2) Click New -> Next -> Next -> Finish

3) For the Product Datasource Name specify: QWTEMP

4) Press OK -> OK

5) Verify the Product Database is shown in the Product Lookup Window

6) Have everyone close out of QuoteWerks (Including yourself)

7) Now, launch the SQL Server Management Studio (or the Enterprise Manager) and login into the correct SQL Server Instance.

8) Expand the QuoteWerks database and expose the tables

9) Right-Click the Datasources table and click "Open Table" or "View Table Data", etc.

10) Locate the QWTEMP Datasource line and perform the following:
-Replace QWTEMP with your Product Datasource Name.
-Replace Products_QWTEMP with your Product Table (Shown in the Tables List on the left hand side of the SQL Server Management Studio)

11) You may remove the Products_QWTEMP table if you wish but be sure this is the ONLY table you remove. (It is OK to leave it as well)

At this point you should be able to Log back in to QuoteWerks and your Product Table should be re-linked.
