ACT! - Intermittent "Contact Manager not detected" error

Are you using the most current release of QuoteWerks?

When using QuoteWerks with ACT!, user frequently gets an error message stating their preferred contact manager is not running. Typically user can click Ok on the error message, wait a few minutes and everything works fine, but error reoccurs.


When QuoteWerks launches, it "calls out" to your contact manager to see if it's running. If QuoteWerks does not receive a response from your contact manager within a set time frame, it will return the message stating your contact manager is not running.


Try the following suggestions:

- After launching ACT!, wait about 30-60 seconds before launching QuoteWerks (If you try launching the 2 simultaneously, QuoteWerks will launch first)

- Create a QuoteWerks Toolbar Icon in ACT! to launch QuoteWerks from ACT! (This can be done from the QuoteWerks Medic Utility)

- Try disabling your antivirus (temporarliy) to see if it is creating the timeout.

- Sometimes, certain open windows in ACT! have been known to block communication from outside applications trying to talk with ACT! Check to see if this may be the case.
