Question:
Are there any defaults that can be set when saving an opportunity in salesforce.com?

Solution:
Tip: Advanced users can set the following defaults in the {username}.ini file under the [Preferences] section:

[Preferences]
ForecastProbability=90
ForecastCloseDate={+14}

Note: The {+14} code schedules the date for today's date +14 respectively.

Tip: Advanced users can set the following defaults in the site.ini file under the [Contacts Managers] section:

[Contacts Managers]
UpdateSalesforceOppName=ABC Opp
