Minimum Licensing Requirements for Remote Installations

You will need a minimum of one license for the “Master” installation, plus a license for each Remote PC. Additionally, each Remote Site installation must have a minimum of one license. Take, for instance, the applied examples:

Example 1

You have installed QuoteWerks on a computer at your office, and also want to install it on your home computer. If you want to be able to create quotes at the home installation, and then import them into your office installation, you will need a 2-User license. If you do not need to be able to create quotes at one of the installations, and then import them into the other location, then you only need a 1-User license (This is only true if you are the only individual that is using QuoteWerks, and when you are using QuoteWerks on your home computer, no-one is using QuoteWerks on your office computer).

Example 2

You have 3 sales reps in your office, and all 3 of the sales reps have laptops. You will need a 4-User license because the “Master” installation on the office network will require one license, and then each Remote PC laptop installation will require one license. If one of the three sales reps used QuoteWerks from the network “Master” installation instead of having a laptop, you would only need a 3-User license since that sales rep would be using one license minimum required by the “Master” installation, and then two Remote PC licenses could be generated for the other two sales reps laptops.

The following is an overview of the procedure required to prepare the “Master” installation of QuoteWerks to work in conjunction with Remote PC and Remote Site installations of QuoteWerks:

1.Install QuoteWerks on your network following the network installation instructions under Installing QuoteWerks. This will be your “Master” installation. You will enter all of the “Primary” License Keys into this “Master” installation. “Primary” License Keys start with a “C,” “J,” or “F”. If you have received multiple “C,” “J,” or “F” License Keys, you will want to enter them all into this “Master” installation.

2.Start the QuoteWerks network installation and create all the user login names, and setup their corresponding security options under the Utilities -> User Maintenance menu. See User Maintenance and Security for details on creating new user login names and assigning user rights.

3.The Remote PC installations of QuoteWerks that you will be setting up will require a License Key to be activated. You will generate this License Key from the Utilities -> License Manager window of the “Master” installation of QuoteWerks. The “Master” installation of QuoteWerks allows you to “split off” sub-licenses from the “Master” Licenses that were entered into the “Master” installation. These sub-licenses can then be used to activate the Remote PC installations of QuoteWerks. You will need to generate a Remote PC License Key for each Remote PC installation you need to setup. From the License Manager window, click on the [Create New Remote PC License] button to generate a Remote PC License Key. When generating a Remote PC License Key, you will be prompted to select the user that this Remote PC License Key will be used for. Record each Remote PC License Key in a safe place. These Remote PC License Keys will be used later to activate the Remote PC Installations of QuoteWerks. 4.If you will be setting up remote site installations of QuoteWerks, you will need to do this step. The Remote Site installations of QuoteWerks that you will be setting up will require a License Key to be activated. You will generate this License Key from the Utilities -> License Manager window of the “Master” installation of QuoteWerks. The “Master” installation of QuoteWerks allows you to “split off” sub-licenses from the “Master” Licenses that where entered into the “Master” installation. These sub-licenses can then be used to activate the Remote Site installations of QuoteWerks. You will need to generate a Remote Site License Key for each Remote Site installation you need to setup. From the License Manager window, click on the [Create New Remote Site License] button to generate a Remote Site License Key. When generating a Remote Site License Key, you will be prompted to enter the number of users that you want to be able to use QuoteWerks at this site, and you will be prompted for the Site Name. The site name needs to be 3 digits in length, and will be used as the Document Prefix for all documents created by the remote site installation. Record each Remote Site License Key in a safe place. These Remote Site License Keys will be used later to activate the Remote Site installations of QuoteWerks.
