An Overview

QuoteWerks offers an optional add-on module that enables you to retrieve real-time web pricing & availability from PC Industry distributors D&H, Ingram Micro, SYNNEX and Tech Data.  This module also enables you to retrieve the SYNNEX product data file from the SYNNEX FTP server.  This add-on module is purchased separately from the main QuoteWerks product, and is enabled only if you have obtained a license key for the Real-Time Data module.  If you have purchased this add-on module License Key, you will need to enter the License Key into QuoteWerks under the Utilities | License Manager menu, and then restart QuoteWerks before the Real-Time Data module features such as Real-time Pricing and Availability become available.

Note: The real-time data module licensing is based on the “reserved concurrency” model.  Whenever a user on the network uses the real-time data module, a license is reserved for that user and is not released until the user exits QuoteWerks.

Getting Started with D&H Real-time Pricing & Availability

The D&H Real-Time Pricing & Availability works with the USA division of D&H.  Before you can setup and use the D&H Real-Time Pricing & Availability features you need to obtain a real-time pricing and availability User ID and Password from D&H.

You may already have a User ID and Password with D&H. The real-time pricing and availability credentials are the same that you use to log into the D&H website to search for products and pricing.  Usually when a D&H customers signs up as a customer they complete the ‘Electronic Commerce User Agreement” and receive an ID and Password at that time.

If you do not have a User ID and Password to log into the D&H website you will need to contact D&H to request it. To do this, you can go to www.dandh.com , and on the left hand side select ‘Online Forms’, and then choose ‘Electronic Commerce User Agreement”. You can then fax or email it in to D&H.

D&H strongly suggests that you create a new user login ID dedicated to XML Pricing & Availability requests.  To do this, log in to www.dandh.com and go to the Account Admin tab, and choose “Add, change or delete usercodes”.

If you have questions, you can call D&H at 800-877-1200 or your Account Executive by calling 1-800-340-1001.

Getting Started with Ingram Micro Real-time Pricing & Availability

The Ingram Micro Real-Time Pricing & Availability works with the USA, Canadian, Belgium, and United Kingdom divisions of Ingram Micro.  Before you can setup and use the Ingram Micro Real-Time Pricing & Availability features you need to obtain a real-time pricing and availability User ID and Password from Ingram Micro.

The real-time pricing and availability credentials are NOT the same ID and Password that you use to log into the Ingram Micro website to search for products and pricing.

If you do not have a real-time User ID and you will need to contact Ingram Micro to request it. To request and XML Login ID, send email to ecommercecustomerconsultationrequest@ingrammicro.ca requesting an xml login id and include our account number and company name. Once Ingram Micro receives the email, they will create the Login ID for you that will appear in the User Administration section under the My Info area of the Ingram Micro website.  They will also email you the XML Login ID and Password.

For more details, you can call the Ingram Micro Electronic Commerce Support number at 800-616-4665 (press 1 for existing customer, and then press 2 for help with IDs and Passwords, then ask for the XML group).

Getting Started with SYNNEX Real-time Pricing & Availability

The SYNNEX real-time pricing and availability works with both the USA and Canadian divisions of SYNNEX. Before you can setup and use the SYNNEX Real-Time Pricing & Availability features you need to obtain a real-time pricing and availability User ID and Password from SYNNEX. You may already have a User ID and Password with SYNNEX. The real-time pricing and availability credentials are the same that you use to log into the SYNNEX website to search for products and pricing. If you do not have a User ID and Password to log into the SYNNEX website you will need to contact SYNNEX to request it.

Getting Started with Tech Data Real-time Pricing & Availability

The Tech Data real-time pricing and availability works with the USA, Canadian, and United Kingdom (Computer 2000) divisions of Tech Data.  Before you can setup and use the Tech Data Real-Time Pricing & Availability features, you must first obtain, complete, sign, and return the Tech Data XML Trading Partner Agreement.  You can download this agreement from the Tech Data website.  To download this agreement, you need to first log into the Tech Data website using your Tech Data ID and Password that you already use to log into the Tech Data website.  If you do not have a User ID and Password to log into the Tech Data website, please contact Tech Data Electronic Services support at 1-800-222-7926.

Once you have logged into the Tech Data website, paste the following URL into your web browser to download the agreement:

https://www.techdata.com/reseller/secure/commerce/eleccomm/XML_Signup_Document.pdf

In the Tech Data trading agreement document, you will need to supply Tech Data with a registered static ip address.  Tech Data requires this for security reasons.  You will also need to create a specific XML user ID to use when retrieving the real-time data.  The document will explain these requirements.  Once you complete the document and submit it to Tech Data, it may take up to a week for Tech Data to activate your real-time XML data account.  When you fax the document to Tech Data, please make sure to include on the cover page that you will be using QuoteWerks to integrate with the Tech Data XML data.  If you do not, Tech Data will assume that you are starting to develop your own XML integration solution, and will activate your account for testing only. Specifying that you are using QuoteWerks will let them know that you are ready to use live data.

Once Tech Data has activated your XML real-time data account you will be ready to setup the QuoteWerks Real-Time Pricing and Availability feature.

Note: To have access to Real-Time Pricing for Tech Data UK (Computer 2000), you must meet a spend threshold of £10K per quarter. If you meet this criteria, you will need to activate Real-Time pricing from Tech Data UK's (Computer 2000) e-Business Team.  Your Computer 2000 representative will be able to assist you with this. Alternatively, you can email the e-Business Team directly with your request at E-Business@computer2000.co.uk.

Using Real-Time Pricing and Availability

Currently real-time pricing and availability is available for the PC Industry Distributors D&H, Ingram Micro, SYNNEX and Tech Data.  As such, you will only be able to retrieve real-time pricing & availability when you are working with a product that is contained in a product data source named "D & H", "Ingram Micro", “SYNNEX” or “Tech Data”.  This product data source can be a native product database named "D & H", "Ingram Micro", “Tech Data” or “SYNNEX”, or if you have the Professional or Corporate Edition of QuoteWerks, it can be the Ingram Micro, Tech Data or SYNNEX offline price guide.

The real-time pricing and availability features are integrated into many areas of QuoteWerks such as:

The Product Lookup window

From the Product Lookup window, you can select a product, right-click, and select the Real-time Pricing and Availability menu item.  This will display the real-time data window.  If you click on the [Accept] button, the Cost, List and Availability numbers in the database will be updated with this real-time data.

The Vendor Price Comparison Worksheet

From the Vendor Price Comparison Worksheet, you can click on the ellipsis button to the right of the D&H, Ingram Micro, SYNNEX or Tech Data price.  This will display the real-time data window.  If you click on the [Accept] button, the Cost of the item listed in the comparison worksheet will be updated.

The Refresh with Latest Pricing feature

When you select the Tools|Refresh with Latest Pricing menu, you will be asked if you want to refresh the pricing using the offline database, or the real-time data.

The Refresh with Best Pricing feature

When you select the Tools|Refresh with Best Pricing menu, you will be asked if you want to refresh the pricing using the offline database, or the real-time data.

The Add Item Assistant

From the Add Item Assistant, you can click on the [Get Real-time data] button.  This will display the real-time data window.  If you click on the [Accept] button, the Cost and List numbers in the Add Item Assistant will be updated with this real-time data.

If there are optional items for the item you can right click on the optional items to get a menu for Real-time Pricing & Availability.

Once QuoteWerks has finished receiving the Real-Time data, the Real-time Data window will be displayed.  This window will display the real-time cost and list, in addition to the availability and the warehouses for all the stock.  There will be a [Close] button at the bottom of the window which you can use to close the window.  Depending upon where the real-time data was requested, there may also be an [Accept] button displayed.
