Ingram Micro offers two different FTP price file options.
Personalized Price file FTP download
For select Ingram Micro customers, Ingram Micro also provides a personalized pricing text file that can be downloaded from their FTP site. Typically the customer must do around $50K in annual sales to qualify for this FTP price file. This FTP file is not automatically available to you – you need to sign up to receive it.
This price file will only contain the products that you are authorized to sell and can contain government pricing for products. This FTP file is updated daily (before noon each day). For details on how to sign up for this personalized file, please contact their ‘Electronic Commerce Support’ number at 800-616-4665.
Generic Price file FTP download
Ingram Micro also provides to all customers a generic pricing text file located on their FTP site.
This price file will contain a list of all products that Ingram Micro carries, including products that you may not be authorized to sell. It does not contain government pricing for products. This FTP file is updated 5 times daily.
The FTP site and file information are listed below:
For USA customers
ftp://SAMPLE:SAMP@ftpsecure.ingrammicro.com/fusion/us/samples/
File Name |
Description |
PRICE.ZIP |
This contains the product and pricing information. |
Price File Layout.doc |
This tells you what data is in each column of the PRICE.ZIP text file. |
PRICECHG.ZIP |
This contains only the changes for the day. |
For Canadian customers
ftp://SAMPLE:SAMP@ftpsecure.ingrammicro.com/FUSION/CA/SAMPLE/
File Name |
Description |
PRICE.ZIP |
This contains the product and pricing information. |
If you download your product and pricing information from Ingram Micro through this FTP price file, then you will instead need to import this product information into one of the QuoteWerks native product databases using the Product Import Wizard. Product imports can be automated to occur unattended outside of business hours.
Ingram Micro also provides an “updates” only file which is available on their FTP site. This file only contains a list of products and prices that have changed recently. After you have imported the full list of products (once a month), you can then download the “updates” file on a daily basis and use that to update the QuoteWerks native product database containing the Ingram Micro product data. Importing daily updates will take much less time than re-importing the entire list of all Ingram’s products on a daily basis.
Please Note: Ingram Micro no longer provides support for the Electronic Price Guide (EPG) or IM on Disk application.
Ingram Micro has an offline electronic price guide application called ‘IM on Disk’. This application also is known as the “electronic price guide”. You can download the electronic price guide application (epgsetup.exe), and weekly (every Sunday night) price updates (data.zip) from their web site. The prices in the weekly updates are based on your Login ID, so the prices you download are the prices for your specific account. Their ‘IM on Disk’ support number is 800-616-4665.
How to obtain and Install the Electronic Price Guide
The following step-by-step instructions will make it easy for you to obtain their product database files. Please note that the distributor web site designs are changed often, and as such these instructions are subject to those changes.
Step 1: Call their Electronic Commerce support number to obtain your ID and password for their web site. If you already have an ID and password, please skip the next step.
Step 2: In your web browser, go to www.ingrammicro.com. On the left hand-side of the page, please enter in your ID and password, and then click the [Log in] button.
Step 3: Under the “Resources” section, click on the “Electronic Price Guide (EPG)” link.
If this is your first time setting up their price guide, download their program “IM on Disk,” and the latest pricing data by downloading the epgsetup.exe and data.zip files.
Step 4: Run the epgsetup.exe and install it on your local hard drive or your file server. If you have QuoteWerks installed on the network so that multiple users can share the database, then it is important to also install the IM on Disk application to the network so that all the users on the network can share it too.
Step 5: Start the IM on Disk application, select the Update menu, and select the data.zip file that you downloaded.
Step 6: IM on Disk will begin ‘building’ the database from the data file. When the process has completed, QuoteWerks can link to its database.
Note: This process may take a few moments. Please be patient.
How to link to Ingram Micro
Step 1: Go to the Products|Setup Product Sources menu, then select the [New] button on the Product Data Source Setup window.
Step 2: From the “Select Database Type” window select “Ingram Micro” from the drop down menu. Then click on the [Next] button to move to the next step.
Step 3: Click on the button to “Select folder where distributor database is located.” Navigate to the location where you installed the ‘IM on Disk’ application (usually c:\epg) and click on the [Ok] button. Note: QuoteWerks looks for the file epg.mdb.
Step 4: Once you click on the [Next] button from the previous step, the “Map Columns” window will appear. This window allows you to map the Ingram Micro database columns to their QuoteWerks counterpart. By default, we have already mapped the Ingram Micro fields to QuoteWerks fields.
If you want to change our default selections, simply select the Ingram Micro field on the right, then select the QuoteWerks field on the left and choose to map or un-map the fields.
Click on the [Next] button to move to the next step.
Step 5: On this window you can “Set Column Titles.” Column titles are the names of the columns as they will appear in the Product Lookup window for this product source.
For example, in QuoteWerks the Cost field is called ’Cost’. In the Ingram Micro database the field name is called ‘Dealer’. You may want to refer to this field as ‘My Cost.’ By clicking on the [Change Title] button you can rename the column title.
Click on the [Next] button to move to the next step
Step 6: Here you can choose to display all of the products in the database when you select this product database from the Product Lookup window.
Click on the [Finish] to complete the link to the Ingram Micro pricelist.
Step 7: Lastly, you receive a notification that “The database is now available for use under the Products|Lookup menu. Click [Ok] to be returned to the Product Data Source Setup window.
How to obtain and install Updates
Step 1: In your web browser, go to www.ingrammicro.com. On the left hand-side of the page, please enter in your ID and password, and then click the [Log in] button.

Step 3: Select the “data.zip file to download the latest pricing data.
Step 4: After you have downloaded the file, start the IM on Disk application and select the Update Re-Index Databases menu option from the Update menu. IM on Disk will begin ‘building’ the updated databases from the data file.
Warning: When processing an update, there should be no users running QuoteWerks.
Step 5: Once this is complete you do not need to perform any update operations in QuoteWerks.
Manufacturers List and Product Categories
Once the link to the Ingram Micro has been established, go to the Products|Lookup menu to launch the Product Lookup window. Select the ‘Ingram Micro’ product data source from the list of product sources on the left.

The Looking up and adding products to the quote Chapter will explain how to retrieve products from these linked offline price guides.
