QuoteWerks allows you to setup many product databases making it easy to organize the products and services that you sell. Using these separate product databases, QuoteWerks can also perform price comparisons on the same product/service in the different product databases. QuoteWerks is designed to require a separate product database for each vendor that you purchase products and services from. Products and services can be imported or manually entered into these product databases.
You can create and maintain these product databases on the QuoteWerks tab of the Products|Setup Product Data Sources menu.
Steps to create a new product database
| 1. | Click on the [New] button of the Products|Setup Product Data Sources menu. |
| 2. | Choose “QuoteWerks” for the database type and click [Next]. |
| 3. | Choose to “Create new” for the database type and click [Next] until you reach the last step.. |
| 4. | Click on the [Finish] button, and the "Enter Product Database File Name" dialog box will appear. In the space provided type a physical file name for the database file. The name typed in must have a .mdb extension following it. For example, if “custom1” will be the name of the database the name must be typed in as “custom1.mdb”. |
| 5. | Next, enter the name of the vendor whose products you will be storing in this database. The new database physical file name, and Vendor name must not match any existing database file names or vendor’s names that are already setup. Click on the [OK] button. |
The newly created product database will appear in the list of product databases. The new product database will now be visible from the Products|Lookup menu which is where you can add products to this database. This is also where you will select the products that you would like to add to your quote.
Note: When products from this product database are added to the quote, the name that you have given this product database will be placed in the vendor column of the quote for the product.
